Abdel Rahman Zaatari
Abdel Rahman is the founder of Amalia and chaired the company since inception until his passing away in 2013. Abdel Rahman was prominent and leading figure in the world of business locally and regionally with over 40 years of experience in international trade across multiple sectors including agrochemicals and commodities. Furthermore, as a major shareholder and executive at Zaatari Holding Group, Abdel Rahman was the key element in leading the expansion and diversification of the group’s portfolio, primarily in agriculture, industrial, trading and real estate.
Abdel Rahman was also the Chairman of the Union of the Import and Export of Vegetables and Fruits in Lebanon, and played an important role in supporting the union through his set of network in the political and business world.
His legacy is now passed on to his sons, Ali and Ziad who intend to preserve that heritage and invest in the right people with like minded partners.
Ali A. Zaatari
Chairman & President
With over 7 years of private equity and investment banking experience in the GCC and international markets, Ali is currently in charge of the back office and financial management of the entire organization. Before joining Amalia, Ali co-founded Windtower Partners in 2009 to help capital sources from the region access and execute private equity deals in core markets in the US and Europe. In 2007, Ali played a similar role with the Government of Dubai and was responsible for sourcing and leading the acquisition process on behalf of the Government, where he concluded $2.5 billion of transactions globally. Prior to that, Ali moved to Kuwait in 2005 and worked for AlShall Investment Company as a corporate finance consultant, and was responsible for carrying out the valuation, feasibility studies, strategic planning, and executing private placements in the GCC across all sectors.
Ali holds a BA in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut, and a Master’s of Science in Finance from the George Washington University.
Ziad A. Zaatari
Ziad joined Amalia in 2012 as a product development specialist, mainly working on acquiring new products and developing novel agriculture solutions for the purpose of expanding the company’s range of activities. As of 2014, Ziad assumed the role of Vice President of the company in addition to being the Technology & Environmental Officer at the Emaar- BeitMisk development project.
Ziad holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development: Energy & Resources from Utrecht University. Prior to joining Amalia, Ziad worked for two years at Dar Al Handasah, Shair and partners, as a design engineer. His technical background, especially in sustainability, has been essential in introducing time-efficient and low resource agriculture solutions to the range of the company’s products.
Halim Abi Saad
Halim joined Amalia in 2006 as a sales manager, and is currently in charge of the company’s purchases, sales strategy and registration of all products at the relevant ministries. Prior to joining Amalia, Halim worked for the General Nutrition Center between 2002 and 2005, as a nutritionist managing several items such as vitamins, minerals and natural herbs. At that time, Halim was also in charge of seed trials at Unifert, and was holding lectures and seminars on chemistry and biology at various universities in Lebanon.
Halim holds a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture and a Master’s Degree in Plant Pathology from the Lebanese University.
